The Beginning
Edward Armstrong asks: what if light sword martial arts could be a real discipline? Within months he grows a light sword academy to 68 students in a single location in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Wins Entrepreneur of the Year. Featured on America's Real Deal and Total Health Magazine.
The Betrayal
The international organization all four founding masters were affiliated with reveals systemic corruption: favoritism, manipulation, predetermined competition results. Edward chooses to honor the warriors who trusted him over the organization that betrayed them. All four masters walk away.
This part of the story matters. Not because it makes us look good (it doesn't), but because it explains everything we built afterward and why we built it the way we did.
Edward had grown a light sword academy to 68 enrolled students in the United States. National recognition. Entrepreneur of the Year. He had done it inside an international organization, believing that affiliation gave the sport legitimacy and gave his students a competitive future. He was wrong about the structure.
When American competitors traveled internationally (some at significant personal cost), they came home with accounts of results that felt predetermined, judges who seemed to favor domestic competitors regardless of performance, and leadership that responded to questions with hostility. The credibility of the competition system, which was the entire reason to be affiliated, turned out to be hollow.
Edward had built his students' training around that organization. He had pointed their ambitions toward a goal. International recognition, competitive legitimacy, a real martial arts career, and the goal turned out to be a story the organization was telling, not a system that delivered. That is not a business problem. That is a question of what he was responsible for.
Edward had every reason to stay: status inside the organization, a thriving academy, leverage. Staying would have meant quietly accepting that his warriors were chasing a future that wasn't real. The Code of S.A.B.E.R. had already been written. The choice in front of him was the first real test of it. He paid the cost knowingly. His academy, his standing, a year of his life. Three other masters inside the same organization were making the same choice in parallel. What you are reading about now is what they built next.
The Rebuild
Four masters who had each watched the same international organization betray its warriors come together to rebuild from scratch, independently, as LSTA. The LSMAF federation incorporated in Virginia. Curriculum documented across nine forms. Meet the Founding Masters →
The Growth
Sifu Julliana Armstrong held two simultaneous federal contracts at Langley AFB and Fort Eustis. Norfolk Parks & Recreation contract launched. Federation network academies operating across the U.S. and internationally. 60+ consecutive five-star reviews. 1,500+ warriors trained. The Armstrongs move toward a full consulting role.
The Proof
Saber Core opens in Connecticut, built from zero to a functioning academy with paying students in six weeks. The system runs without the founders on the floor: proof the curriculum travels.
The Edge
The WISE (Warrior Intelligence System Edge), goes live. Four technology layers deployed across the entire organization: Master-Coached Form Review (LSTA masters reviewing student video, frame-by-frame), the LSTA Wellness Platform, the Saber Circuit. Electronic scoring & national rankings backed by Century Martial Arts, and the 12-Volume Academy System. No other martial arts organization in any category carries all four layers.
"Train inside the WISE. Compete with the edge."
The World Stage
The Federation's Northeast Regionals scheduled June 30, 2027. National federation affiliation in motion. Advancing from grassroots recognition toward international federation standing on the path to a World Games bid. The machine is running.

We weren't totally sure what to expect going into this experience but were excited to give it a try. It did not disappoint! We had such a great time.
The instructors were great! Fun, patient, engaging. We actually learned real moves and got to spar with each other. Great experience for adults and kids.
Didn’t expect to be inducted into a legitimate martial arts group. Just thought it was a fun date idea for me and the wife. We are both hooked and have our goals set on getting a black belt one day. Fun workout for nerds of any kind.
This is way above a simple tourist experience. This is real sword fighting with a touch of fun. Don't worry, safety is first. I cannot wait to get into the 6 forms. I've signed up for lessons! Great people to be around.
You don’t want to miss this! My boys had the time of their life and can’t wait to come back.
Great family experience and exceeded our expectations! It was a great workout and a lot of fun!
This experience was outstanding. It was the perfect combination of physical training and fun. Highly recommend this for any family!!!
Five-star experience! Personalized, fun, and engaging! Far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend for everyone looking for a great time!
As a 15-year traditional martial artist, I was skeptical. After one session I understood. This is a complete, legitimate system. The 9 forms are grounded in real combat traditions.
My 14-year-old wasn't connecting with traditional team sports. Eight months into Saber Tag and he's earned his Orange Sash, trains between sessions without being asked, and has a goal he actually cares about. The structure is transformative.
Booked a corporate event for 40 people. Everyone from our CFO to our interns were completely locked in for two hours. Best team-building event in five years of trying.
The class was fantastic and my two boys had a great time. The class was also a great value and the host was very entertaining.
