The Betrayal
The international franchise organization all four founding masters were affiliated with reveals systemic corruption: favoritism, manipulation, predetermined competition results. Edward chooses to honor the warriors who trusted him over the organization that betrayed them. All four masters walk away.
This part of the story matters. Not because it makes us look good (it doesn't), but because it explains everything we built afterward and why we built it the way we did.
Edward had grown a light sword academy to 68 enrolled students in the United States. National recognition. Entrepreneur of the Year. He had done it inside an international franchise structure, believing that structure gave the sport legitimacy and gave his students a competitive future. He was wrong about the structure.
When American competitors traveled internationally (some at significant personal cost), they came home with accounts of results that felt predetermined, judges who seemed to favor domestic competitors regardless of performance, and leadership that responded to questions with hostility. The credibility of the competition system, which was the entire reason to be affiliated, turned out to be hollow.
Edward had built his students' training around that organization. He had pointed their ambitions toward a goal. International recognition, competitive legitimacy, a real martial arts career, and the goal turned out to be a story the franchise was telling, not a system that delivered. That is not a business problem. That is a question of what he was responsible for.
Edward had every reason to stay: status inside the organization, a thriving academy, leverage. Staying would have meant quietly accepting that his warriors were chasing a future that wasn't real. The Code of S.A.B.E.R. had already been written. The choice in front of him was the first real test of it. He paid the cost knowingly. His academy, his standing, a year of his life. Sifu Julliana Armstrong held two simultaneous federal contracts at Langley AFB and Fort Eustis. Norfolk Parks & Recreation contract launched. Federation network academies operating across the U.S. and internationally. 60+ consecutive five-star reviews. 1,500+ warriors trained. The Armstrongs move toward a full consulting role.
The Proof
Full consulting model active. Every program in the ecosystem available for licensing by established operators. Saber Core proves the model. License issued December 2025, Grand Opening February 7, 2026, built from zero to a functioning Connecticut academy with paying students. The operating infrastructure runs without the founders on the floor.

We weren't totally sure what to expect going into this experience but were excited to give it a try. It did not disappoint! We had such a great time.
The instructors were great! Fun, patient, engaging. We actually learned real moves and got to spar with each other. Great experience for adults and kids.
