Light swords used in Saber Tag X-Treme League are polycarbonate instruments, the same material as safety glasses. They flex on impact. No sharp edges. No weight that causes injury. The electronic scoring vest registers a hit that is comparable in force to a firm handshake.
This is not sparring. It is not uncontrolled contact. Every hit is measured by the vest and recorded electronically. A session is more controlled and more documented than a standard flag football game.

In 2015, Edward Armstrong built a light sword martial arts academy in the United States: 68 students, Entrepreneur of the Year, featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox. Sijo Nathan Young, Sifu Julliana Armstrong, and Sifu Nick Benseman built the curriculum, the institutional partnerships, and the safety protocols alongside him.
In 2016, the franchise that gave the sport its international structure betrayed the warriors and operators inside it.
In 2017, all four walked away, and rebuilt from scratch, on their own terms, engineered against the exact failure modes they had survived.
That rebuild is why this partnership exists.

Three reasons
this isn’t the right program for your school.
Adding a sport program to PE, after-school, or club rotations is a real planning effort. Before you take this to your principal, here are three reasons it might not fit.
Saber Tag is a structured combat sport with full safety protocols and equipment, but it’s still contact. If your district’s sport policy excludes any form of striking sport, the program won’t clear administrative review. Confirm with your athletic director before going further.
Saber Tag school programs run through the sponsor-funded variant where local businesses cover student fees, or through a PE/after-school budget line. If neither funding pathway exists at your school, the program has no way to start.
Saber Tag at the high-school level is currently a club or intramural format. Varsity sanctioning through state athletic associations is a multi-year pathway. If you need varsity status for credit or scholarship eligibility from day one, this isn’t the right timing.
